When I was 12, one of the things I wanted to be was a writer (as well as a teacher, dancer, acrobat/gymnast, and famous singer). I also wanted to live in southern Europe and live in a rooftop loft done up all white and red with the man I loved.

At a month away from 39, I make a living writing and teaching English while I work on my fiction (not yet supporting myself with that, but it’ll come). I live in northern Spain with the man I love in an attic apartment done up all white and red.

My goal is to get my first book published, then go on to publishing more (ideally at a JK Rowling level, but I’ll accept an Andre Norton or Anne McCaffrey level too). My daily goal is to move my writing forward at least little bit (which reminds me – I must go revise the next chapter of the novel).

Well thank you you’re pretty awesome yourself. And you are right, that seems to be what we want – freedom.

We can have freedom, you know. People who think you have to work for someone else for a living, just haven’t thought hard enough yet. Keep thinking, those of you who think that!

(Unless of course you like working for someone else – if so, carry on.)

I can usually find some enjoyment in what I do, but as Ed knows, where we work, there are some factions who work very hard to sabotage attempts to do that very thing…
